There is something about Sunday.
I can’t really remember why we chose it as “our” day, but it has come to fit us perfectly.
I guess in the beginning it simply felt achievable. Like some destination we could all make it to. “See you next Sunday” seemed easy enough. Somehow, we have managed to show up nearly every Sunday for the past 2 and a half years to skate together. I couldn’t have imagined it any better.
Sunday has inevitably brought us all closer. Made us better friends. It has offered something I don’t think we knew we needed. A return to our collective childhood, or maybe just a place to truly be ourselves. A bunch of middle aged men spinning around in the air, sliding down things, exchanging energy, and sharing stories. Like if a traveling circus started a support group. Just picture it like that.
Sunday is our ritual.
It is our weekly reminder to go out, and simply enjoy skating…together.
